Step 2: Development Of A Rapid Test For Monitoring Wall Permeability

Wall permeability of Sphingomonas sp. 107 cells after fixation with paraformaldehyde. A: Wall permeability using ethidium brimide (EtBr). Fluorescence of non-permeabilized bacteria without EtBr (1), EtBr fluorecence in non-permeabilized (2) and permeabilized (3) cells. B: Fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) with the FITC-labeled specific SPHIN probe. Unpermeabilized (1) and permeabilized (2) Spingomonas sp. 107 cells.
