The arch of Octavius Augustus, 27 B.C.E

The Council of the International Society for Analytical Cytology invites you to attend the XVIII Congress to be held at the Palacongressi Conference Center in Rimini, Italy 13 - 18 April 1996.

The Congress will feature plenary and frontiers lectures; theme programs; symposia; scientific and commercial tutorials on current topics that are relevant to scientists, researchers, and other medical professionals in the field of cytometry.

Abstracts of papers and posters to be presented are available via the Internet.

The location of the Congress is Rimini, Italy, a seaside resort located on the western shores of the Adriatic Sea. The area is well known throughout Europe for its never-ending beach and shallow, safe sea. Rimini has a two thousand year old history rich in culture and art. Modern amenities include the state-of- the-art conference center; an excellent selection of beach hotels and resort facilities; and an outstanding array of restaurants, pubs, and discotheques. Rimini is easily accessible by train or car, from several airports in Italy. Major airlines offer daily flights from North America to Rome and Milan; and the airport at Bologna offers regular commuter service from many major European cities. We look forward to seeing you in Rimini!

If you are not yet a member of ISAC, you can order a pre-program booklet that includes Registration and Abstract Submission forms.

International Society for Analytical Cytology XVIII Congress

The formal meeting for ISAC XVIII will run from Sunday morning through Thursday evening 14 - 18 April 1996. In addition, on the Saturday preceding the meeting, there will be sixteen four-hour- long Scientific Tutorials beginning at 08:00. The Congress will feature plenary lectures on Analytical Cytology Technology; frontiers lectures featuring Novel Technologies or Biological Applications, and five biological themes, running parallel, in which Analytical Cytology is a key technology. The themes are:

There will also be parallel symposia that will cover topics other than those in the themes and commercial tutorials.

The Friday following the meeting is available for special topics meetings, workshops, and National or Regional group meetings. Interested organizations may contact the ISAC office for assistance in organizing a Friday meeting. The Organizing Committee of ISAC will gladly extend a personal letter of invitation to any scientist requesting one. Rimini and the Internet
Although Federico Fellini is probably the best known son of Rimini (see his film, Amarcord, for an autobiographical look at his native city in the 1930's), it seems fitting that in Rimini in1971, Marshall MacLuhan received the Gold Medal Award from the President of the Italian Republic in recognition of original work as philosopher of the mass media.

There are Internet resources in Italy that can tell you more information about the city of Rimini, environs, cultural attractions, etc., as well as other Italian cities. Information is in both English and Italian.

And if you are baffled about hotel selections, traveling to Rimini, and other details of the city, try the Promozione Albergina Rimini. They provide city maps, hotel pictures, etc. [N.B.: This is for information only. Make hotel reservations only using the housing form that will come with your registration packet.]
