Scientists strive for inter-laboratory precision and accuracy. These basic goals are shared by flow cytometrists; however, differences in instrument, reagents, and analysis software have made these goals difficult to achieve. The Center for Quantitative Cytometry has been established, as a non-profit organization, to address the issues of precision and accuracy through standardization of quantitative analysis. The key activity of the Center to promote standardization is conducting One Day Quantitative Workshops throughout the world.

Who should attend the One Day Workshop?

This workshop is recommended to all flow cytometer operators and laboratory managers who require high level quality control or whose studies involve quantitative determination of antibody binding capacities for specific cell populations. To obtain the maximum benefit from this workshop, the participant should have at least one year's experience dealing with flow cytometry data.

Workshop content

Lecture topics include:

Theory and definitions of quantitative flow cytometry
Elements of comprehensive quality control
A unified approach to instrument setup and calibration
Determination of antibody binding capacity (ABC) of specific cell populations

Workshop activities

Lectures on the theoretical and practical use of standards
Individual and group problem solving and data analysis
Individual software training
Written examinations

Workshop fees

Individuals $295 per participant (maximum of 30 participants)
The Center will provide the room, all workshop materials, lunch, and break refreshments.
Corporations and agencies $5000 per workshop (for up to 20 participants)
$250 per extra participant (total maximum 30 participants)
The Center will provide all workshop materials.
Contractor will provide the room, lunch, and break refreshments.

Locations of Past Workshops

The following are the locations of past workshops:
USA St. Louis, MO; Research Triangle Park, NC; Seattle, WA; Denver CO; Bethesda, MD;

Canada Vancouver, BC; Toronto, ON; Montreal (French & English)

Deadline and cancellation policy

The registration deadline for all workshops is two weeks prior to the scheduled date. A penalty of 15% will be applied to cancellations after this date. Substitutions are permitted at any time. The Center for Quantitative Cytometry reserves the right to postpone or cancel a workshop two weeks prior to the scheduled date.

Locations

The Center wants to make these workshops as convenient as possible, as well as to keep expenses for both the participants and the Center to a minimum. Therefore, the workshops will be conducted in any city or region where at least 15 participants can be registered. To take advantage of this approach, the Center is providing an expression of interest form in which you may indicate the city or region you could attend a workshop. When registration for a particular location has reached 15 participants, you will be notified as to the date and place for the workshop, upon which time you can formally register. We will soon add a MAP to this page that will allow you to keep track of the number of individuals who have expressed interest in the various regions.

Expression of interest form

If you want to fill in a form to register (express interest) for a workshop, press the accompanying box and an email enquiry form will appear. It will be automatically sent to the Center. Don't forget to provide enough information for us to contact you. Open the mailer form now
