Image session at ISAC

I received a number of replies to my question about getting together at ISAC
to discuss image analysis in terms of purchasing instrumentation.

Based upon these replies, I have organised with ISAC to hold a special
lunchtime session at ISAC. This session will be held on TUESDAY LUNCHTIME
12:45 to 2:00pm. The location will be announced at ISAC, there will be a
signup sheet at the registration desk, and there should also be a handout in
the material you receive at ISAC. Luches will be boxed, so we have
permission
to take them into the room. 15 minutes should be adequate time for people to
get their lunches.

The session will be called: "Image analysis instrumentation purchase
decisions: Questions and possibly answers!" (unless someone has a better
idea]

I have requested a room to hold at least 50 people. This is many more than I
originally intended, and calls into question how this session should be run
and who should attend. We certainly do not want a session that systematically
destroys particular instrumentation because of one person's experience. On
the other hand it must be frank or we defeat the purpose. I have a concern
that this be useful, but I have many nore questions than answers so I will
certainly not be able to our advice. If anything I am more confused than ever
after looking at a few instruments. Purchasing a flow cytometer is easy
compared to image!!!

I would appreciate suggestions from those who will attend as to how it should
be run. If we have just buyers there, we may just be sharing ignorances which,
while important, restricts the session.

Comments via EMAIL appreciated ASAP as I need to make up the handout in the
next day or two to get it to the ISAC people to have it copied.
Thanks to all.
