Quartz cuvette for the FACS Vantage

We just received from BD a small quartz cuvette with an open end for
our FACS Vantage. Our intention is to improve the scatter
characteristics of thrombocytes.

The alignment of the cuvette in a plane-parallel mode in the
instrument seems to be rather critical especially for the forward
scatter signal. Also, there seem to be major differences depending
on the side of the cuvette used for forward scatter and fluorescence
signals. It is possible to obtain good signals after trying
various positions of the cuvette and decreasing the width of the
obscuration bars. However, we did not find a way until now how to
realign the cuvette in a reproducible mode after taking it off the
instrument.

Has anyone epxerience in the alignment of this quartz cuvette. I
would be thankful for any help on the subject.
