ELITE software under OS/2

Well, I feel like an idiot. Like many people, I tried to run the
Elite workstation software under OS/2, got an error message that
said 'This program can't run under OS/2', and thought it was due
to an incompatibility between the Rational Dos extender and the
OS/2 memory management. OOPS, NOT SO.
The only problem is that the software (either the program itself
or the Rational 16M extender) does a DOS version query.
For you other OS/2 users with the Elite workstation software, simply
use the DOS settings of the Dos session you want to run the workstation
software in to report a fake DOS version to the elite.exe program,
and it will run just fine.
It still may or may not (probably not) run in a DOS window, depending
on your video drivers, but even from the full screen session, you can
switch to a window in order to cut and paste pictures from the software,
or switch it to the background to run a batch of files.
Now, who's going to be the brave soul to install an adlister board and
try to acquire data as well?
