de Grooth et al (1987) Cytometry 8:539 used rotation of polarised light by
eosinophils to sort PNM and Eos on FALS/side scatter. A student in the lab
tried this with limited success, although the Abbott haematology analysers
apparently use this method routinely. Weil and Chused (1981) Blood 57:1099
used blue autofluorescence. Another similar method was used by Lehnert and
Steinkamp (1986) Cell Biophys 8:201 on rat pleural eos. Others select CD9+
16- granulocytes, which are mostly eos.
We would dearly love a good method, so please let me know what you decide
on.
