We are using Becton Dickenson's Retic-COUNT kit (Thiazole Orange) to stain =
rat whole blood for reticulocytes. Our baseline values for %retics is =
around 3-4%. A couple animals had baseline values as high as 5.8%. I =
haven't used this assay before and was hoping someone in the flow =
community could tell me if these values are too high for rats (they =
certainly would be for humans) and if we can account for it someway. The =
kit mentions NRBC and/or lymphocytes as possible contaminants, but I'm =
hoping there is some simple solution. Thanks in advance for any ideas or =
suggestions.
