The facility sponsors courses and workshops periodically for the transfer of knowledge and information about the use of flow and imaging cytometry for aquatic sciences applications. These have included introductory and advance topic workshops.
This two week course is offered for scientists and students interested in learning the basic principles of flow cytometry and cell sorting, and digital fluorescence microscopy for the analysis of uni-cellular plankton populations - both natural communities and cultures. Basic instrumentation, sample preparation, standards and controls, will be covered. The use of various fluorescent probes as indicators of cellular physiology will be introduced. Hands-on lab experience through individual projects will be encouraged.
Dates: 16 - 27 June 1997Information regarding applying for the course will be posted here in fall 1996.
