This is the second edition of a comprehensive, detailed book of confocal microscopy. It covers the fundamental theory and practical application of confocal microscope systems. Seventeen of the thirty-seven chapters contain in-depth discussions of various aspects of instrumentation that must be considered in set-up and use of a confocal system. Seven chapters are devoted to sample preparation and image collection. Several chapters cover less common techniques in confocal microscopy, such as UV, immunogold labeling, and fluorescence lifetime imaging. This book is an invaluable reference for anyone interested in making regular use of a confocal system.
