This book provides a good introduction to three-dimensional confocal microscopy. The twenty chapters are divided into three parts: part one covers practical and technical considerations, part two discusses several biological applications, both in basic research and clinical diagnosis, and part three reviews alternative approaches and future applications. Four color sections provide excellent illustration of techniques and analysis, and the numerous other images and diagrams facilitate clearer understanding of concepts. Anyone considering volume investigations with a confocal system should examine this book!
