The European Working Group for Clinical Cell Analysis (EWGCCA) was founded in January 1996 in Regensburg, Germany. It had its first regular meeting on July 4, 1996 in Antwerp, Belgium. The acting speaker of the group is G.Schmitz, Regensburg, Germany.
The objectives of the group are the advancement and standardization of clinical cell analysis in the European Community. The Working Group promotes the collaboration of various scientific disciplines and societies in this field without the intention to establish a formal scientific society.
Technical Task Forces:
- Flow cytometer set-up and calibration (see Concepts in Clinical Cytometry)
- Sample preparation for multicolor flow cytometry
- Absolute cell count assessment
- Detection of intracellular antigens
- Quantitation of antigen expression
- Cytometric data analysis (see Concepts in Clinical Cytometry)
Clinical Task Forces
- Lymphocyte subset enumeration and function assays
- Platelet immunephenotyping and function assays (see Concepts in Clinical Cytometry)
- Leukemia and lymphoma immunephenotyping (see Leukemias and Lymphoma Classification)
- CD34+ stem cell enumeration
