We have compared Texas Red excited with the 568 krypton line with
excitation with the dye laser (rhodamine 6G) tuned to about 590-600nm.
As Marty predicts, the Texas Red excited at 568 is suboptimal, but
still quite usable. (Texas Red at 568 was done on a brand new Vantage
with all new optics and quite good sensitivity.) The situation is
somewhat analagous to APC excited with the dye laser vs APC excited
with the 647 krypton line (APC exciting more efficiently at 647).
Also.. I have used Texas Red with CyChrome (both excited at 568), and
this works fine. I would guess that you could actually use PE, (or Red
670 or Tricolor) with TxRed excited at 568, but you could not use Red
613 with TxRed.
