Hello everybody,

as I had a couple of people wanting to know about the possible recycling of
HP98785A Monitors (the ones installed with the 340 HP Lysis II Station),
here is what I found out so far:

Although I haven't tried either of these possibilities, several people in
different news groups suggested that either of both solutions should work.

There are two possibilities:

1. For PCs: Buy a videocard that supports the monitor:
http://www.mirage-mmc.com/intro.htm
http://www.mirage-mmc.com/48-55.htm?title=98785A
http://www.avicom.net/softint.html
http://www.photonweb.com/564-64/

If you have one of those videocards already, maybe a simple HD15 -> 3 BNC
cable is enough.

2. For MacIntoshes: Get a MacSync cable from Griffin Technologies
http://www.Nashville.Net/~griffin/

Here is some of the specs that I got from one of the webpages (no guarantee
for validity) concerning this monitor (although I'd love to have the
official documentation on this monitor - if anybody has it, send me a copy
please !)

Hewlett-Packard : HP98785A
Maximum Resolution:
1280x1024, 60 Hz
Scan Rates:
Horizontal scan: 47.7 Khz
Vertical refresh: 60 Hz
Bandwidth: Mhz
Monitor Type: Fixed Frequency
Signal type: Analog
Sync: Green

Physical Specifications:
Type of connector: 3 BNC
CRT size: 16
Aperture grill
Picture tube: Color
Dot pitch: .26 mm

Hope that get's you in the right direction. I'll let you know as soon as I
managed to get this MacSync cable from Griffin Technologies.

Ok, have a nice weekend.

Cheers, Matthias
