HP 340 question

We have an HP 340 on one of our FACScans. A researcher, who is familiar with
PCs, decided to name his data files with a slash in the name (eg. \data000).
Now these files are inaccessible: cannot be read, copied or renamed. Does
anyone know of a solution?

Thank you very much for any information.
