We have good luck maintaining viability of T and B lymphocytes in normal
whole or even tissue-embedded lymph nodes using Hanks Balanced Salt
Solution and wet ice for the first 12-24 hours post excision. To improve
viability for longer storage or for more delicate cells our medium of
choice is RPMI 1640, again held at 4 degrees C.
Hope this helps.
