The flow results were as follows:
CD2: negative
CD3: negative
CD5: 72%
CD7: 73%
CD4: 10% (CD5 and CD7 positive, CD2 and CD3 negative)
CD8: 60% (CD5 and CD7 positive, CD2 and CD3 negative)
CD10: weak expression
CD19: 15%
CD45:98%
CD34: 14% (weak expression)
We interpreted these findings as unusual and raised the possibility of a T
cell lymphoproliferative disorder due to the absence of two pan T cell
markers. We also encouraged the physician to do TCR gene rearangement
studies to determine if this population was clonal.
Has anybody ever encountered this absence of CD2 and CD3 in HIV infected
patients. Could the absence of these markers possibly be related to the
immune status of this patient?
