The Clinics for Pediatric Cardiology (Director Prof. Dr. med. P.
Schneider) of the Heart Center Leipzig, University of Leipzig

has an opening for a

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW (payment BATIIa/O)
and a

natural scientist or physician (scholarship)

to work on a research program about the immune response during heart
surgery and congenital heart diseases in children. The scholarship is
granted by the Kinderherzstiftung in Deutsche Herzstiftung e.V.. The
research program deals with the analysis of the ,Interaction of
cardiopulmonary bypass and immune system in children during open heart
surgery and in an experimental system".

For the fellowship two years of salary are provided, the scholarship
(GEM 2000,00/month) has a time limit of one year. The successful
candidates will be biologists, biochemists, biophysicists or physicians.
The individuals recruited for this position will have an expertise in
the relevant laboratory techniques as evidenced by publication. For
both positions there is the possibility of a follow up funding.

Laboratory techniques: Practical and theoretical skills in
immunological techniques especially in flow cytometry, fluorescence
imaging, cell culture and serology are essential. Knowledge of
molecular biological techniques, in particularly cytogenetics (FISH)
is desirable.
