G0 versus G1

Anyone any pointers to their favourite method of distinguishing G0 cells
from G1? I have a user here who is trying new compounds on cell lines, and
showing a decrease in S and G2, along with an increased S phase transit
time by BRDU labelling. He thinks he may be forcing the cells into G0, but
I can'y think of the best way to prove this! I have a Facscan, using an HP
320 loaded with Cellfit and Lysys II software.
Thanks in advance.
