I don't have a copy of Attractors, so I don't know what its exact file
requirements are, it could be that it expects some B-D specific features
that Coulter don't include. Nonetheless:
There were until recently two versions of the FCS specification, FCS 1.0
and FCS 2.0. The specifications allow for a wide range of file formatting,
and different manufacturers tend to ignore some features, or presume that
others will never be implemented, so doing a simple conversion does not
always work. For instance, files are supposed to start with a six
character version identifier eg "FCS1.0" followed by four spaces, Coulter
chose to ignore this in early versions and put a space between "S" and "1",
which means a program that checks for versions strings could reject the
file. B-D and every other manufacturer that I've come across has quirks
like these, and it could be that you've hit one of them. My shareware
program, FCS Assistant has a several routines built in to iron out wrinkles
in file formats and does drag and drop conversion using apple scripts,
allowing you to convert most manufacturers FCS 1.0 and FCS 2.0 list mode
files to a basic FCS 2.0 file that's readable in Cellquest. You can get a
copy from the server below.
Good Luck
