A rare Eosinophil "Leukaemia"

Although superficially similar, the hypogranular eosinophils shown in this case (ringed in white) are morphologically very different from the ones in the MDS case, being highly pleomorphic with a large number of hypersegmented cells having up to 6 lobes.
The absolute count of the abnormal population was 12.4 x 109/L and the DNA index showed a ratio of 1.03 in comparison to the patient's normal granulocytes & lymphocytes.
Apparently normal eosinophils (ringed in blue) separate quite clearly from the abnormal population.
