Laboratory Profile

Director: M. Santos-Rosa, MD, PhD

1.Facilities available: Instrumentation labs, cell culture facility, computer facilities.

2. Instrumentation:

Flow Cytometry: Becton Dickinson FACStar PLUS with air-cooled argon laser and Consort 32 HP computer. Other major items: Fluorescent photomicroscope; Cell culture equipment; Apple computer Network.

3. Specialization areas: Antigen cell membrane immunophenotyping; DNA, HLA and cell proliferation stuides; Analysis of bronchoalveolar lavage fluid.

4.Training Opportunities: Phenotype characterization and differentiation; Cell culture; DNA studies.

5. Special courses offered: Immunophenotyping and Quality Control.

6. Graduate Program: None.

7. Local Accomodations: Several Hotels and Residentials near the University, for 20$ to 100$ per night.

8. Transportation: Closest major airports are Lisbon (200 km) and Porto (100 km).

9. Cost of Internships: Depends upon what studies are required.
