Biomedical Engineering is an interdisciplinary program that is a joint effort of the Schools of Engineering, Science and Veterinary Medicine on the West Lafayette campus as well as the School of Engineering and Technology, Medicine, and Dentistry on the Indiana University - Purdue University campus at Indianapolis. In addition to these participating academic units, the program operates in close collaboration with several centers, including the Hillenbrand Biomedical Engineering Center at West Lafayette, and the Biomechanics and Biomaterials Research Center at Indianapolis. The combined faculty, staff, and facilities of the two campuses provide tremendous resources for students pursuing either masters (M.S.B.M.E.) or doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Biomedical Engineering.
