Case 1 - Another "fragile" ALL (L1)

This VCS pattern is very similar to that shown by the "intermediate" ALL with the 26% blasts being highly sensitive to the lysing reagents together with a large number of "smear cells" in the bone marrow slide.
In addition, immunophenotyping of the bone marrow (94% blasts) showed that some, but not all, cells carried an aberrant CD2 marker.

Shown below is the CD10 vs CD2 plot from this case where it can be seen that the CD2+ cells (28%) are quite distinct from the rest of the blasts.
CD19 and CD45 also showed heterogeneous expression although not as clear cut as CD2.
