Symposium: Flow Cytometric Analysis of Molecular Assemblies

Co-Chairs: Larry Sklar, National Flow Cytometry Resource and University of
New Mexico; John Nolan, National Flow Cytometry Resource, Los Alamos
National Lab

This symposium will highlight recent developments in flow cytometric
instrumentation and applications for the analysis of molecular assemblies,
both in vitro and in live cells. Recent advances in kinetic capabilities
for flow cytometry enable access to second and sub-second time domains on
which molecular interactions occur. Combined with the ability of flow
cytometry to provide sensitive and quantitative fluorescent measurements,
these capabilities have opened a new window on the mechanisms of molecular
assembly which are central to cell function. Topics to be covered include:

- Automated sample handling for flow cytometric kinetic analysis
- Microsphere-based analysis of molecular interactions by flow cytometry
- Molecular assembly of signal transduction in live cells
- Equilibrium and kinetic analysis of protein-protein interactions
- Real-time analysis of DNA processing enzymes
- and others

This symposium is just one of 33 topics to be held at the BiOS '98
symposium, which is part of the larger event called Photonics West '98:
24-30 January 1998
San Jose Convention Center
San Jose, California USA
