TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

Shands Hospital @ the University of Florida is offering an opportunity to an
experienced individual interested in a position in its clinical Flow
Cytometry Laboratory. This is an active facility that supports Shands
Hematologists, Oncologists and Pathologists, and an active bone marrow
transplantation service. In addition, the Shands Flow Cytometry Laboratory
serves as a referral center for physicians and hospitals throughout the
Southeast who submit samples for consultation to the University of Florida
Hematopathology physicians. The laboratory employs six technologists who
analyze an average of 250 samples of lymphoid tissue, bone marrow,blood and
other fluids a month, and a lesser number of specimens requiring DNA content
analysis, lymphocyte subset quantitation and CD34 enumeration.

The opportunity exists to expand one's knowledge and contribute new ideas.
We seek a motivated, creative individual who cannot only perform complex
flow cytometry analysis, but also engage in research and development, and
teach residents and students. Candidates should have at least a B.S. in
Medical Technology or a Biological Science, Florida licensure (or eligible)
and at least four years experience in flow cytometry analysis of hematologic
neoplasia under the supervision of a hematologist or hematopathologist director.
