I do not know of any third party recorders for Windows off hand.
I do agree with you that the Windows recorder is very poor.
The best advice I can give you when using the Windows recorder is to not use the
mouse for anything during the recording, only use keystrokes, and keep the
protocol small. You can also link several small recording together using
keystrokes. Printing can also be a problem when playing back a recording since
the recorder has a low tolerance for slow downs caused by the Print manager.
Print to the fastest printer you can and don't print in color.
Finally try running the playback at recorded speed since this tends to help
minimize timing problems.
I hope this helps,
Roger Smith BDIS

Subject: Automating PC-LYSYS
Has anyone found a workable alternative to the Windows macro recorder for
automating PC-LYSYS?
Is there a macro recorder for Windows that works?
We find that it extremely erratic when analysing a series of files; it falls
over intermittently, and when it works it behaves very strangely; things like
updating all windows except one when going to next file, but not allways the
same window missed; same with updating annotations.
Any useful suggestions will improve the temper of the scientists!
Many Thanks, Joseph.
