Annexin V binding- reveribility?

Could you please post the following message:

For some time we have been examining Annexin V- FITC (+ - EDTA) binding.
PI uptake in elutriation purified cryopreserved human monocytes cultured in
low adherence plates and have observed high Annexin V binding at Zero-time
incubation (6o% of the cells) (PI 3-5%). After a short time (less than 4
hours) Annexin V drops to about 15% (PI 3-5%) Similiar values for Annexin
V and PI are observed after 24 hours incubation. Recovery of cells from
the wells is excellent (manuel counting in counting chamber- better than 9o
% at all harvesting times).
We wonder if cell-membrane pertubation (leading to Annexin V binding ) may
be reversible.

In other words may "flip-flop" bee reversible or should it always lead to
apoptosis??

Appreciate any answer/suggestion.

Thanks
