The Single Cell Facility (SCF) is a central scientific core facility within the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE), located in Basel, Switzerland.

 

The SCF provides technology and support in flow cytometry and automated microscopy to the Department. It works closely together with our Laboratory Automation Facility.  The SCF is staffed with five people, two of whom are dedicated to flow cytometry, two to microscopy, and one to image analysis and data management. We are looking for an experienced individual interested in a diverse, international and innovative work environment to fill the position of a

 

FLOW CYTOMETRY OPERATOR / EXPERT (m/f, 100%)

Location: Basel, Switzerland

 

Responsibilities:  We operate a BD FACSAria Fusion and ARIA III, a customized BD Influx with 8 lasers, three BD LSR Fortessa, two SONY sorters and a BC Cytoflex. Tasks include all aspects of flow cytometry sorter and analyzer operation including quality control and maintenance.  Training, support of users and expert advice in experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results are an essential part of this profile as well as the organization of logistical aspects of the service schedule.

 

Requirements: Extensive hands-on experience with state-of-the-art flow cytometry equipment, knowledge of quantitative cell analysis and high speed cell sorting. The candidate should have a strong knowledge of optical principles and hands-on skills in maintaining and tuning hardware.

We will consider all technical and academic degrees based on the experience and skills of the candidate in the field of flow cytometry.

 

This position demands very good communication skills in English to interact with researchers and the commitment to adapt to the service character of the facility to successfully support the scientific research and operations at the D-BSSE. Besides having excellent technical abilities in the field of flow cytometry, the successful candidate must be an excellent team player and be able to adapt to a diverse work environment.

 

The position is currently limited to one year and will start on July 1st 2020.
