PUCL Job#1277 Flow Core Team member Environ Institure Iniv Louisville (09/2020)

 

The Envirome Institute (EI) at the University of Louisville (UofL) is accepting applications for a Research Scientist to work as a team member of the Flow Cytometer Core. The EI houses several dynamic Centers and investigators across multiple UofL Departments at the Health Science and Belknap Campuses whose collective goal is to understand how exposure to environmental chemicals, particulates and volatiles impact health. The Research Scientist will oversee operations of the Flow Cytometry Core and assist EI investigators in analyzing cellular function and phenotype in human clinical and animal studies.

 

Primary responsibilities include performance of polychromatic flow cytometry on Core instrumentation (LSRII, Fortessa, Symphony, MACSQuant) and the analysis of high dimensional data using FlowJo flow analysis software, R packages for flow cytometric data analyses, or equivalent informatic tools. He/she will also be expected to develop new flow panels, prepare flow cytometry SOPs and present at internal, institutional, and external meetings. The candidate should be willing to work flexible hours that could include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

·           A PhD and 3-5 years of experience on polychromatic flow staining and analysis

 

·           Experience in analysis of high dimensional data using FlowJo or the equivalent tools

 

·           Knowledge of biostatistics is preferred

 

·           Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks, and deliver 

        quality data

 

·           Excellent oral and written communication skills

 

·           Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic work 

        environment.
