Research Scientist, Cell Sorting

Position Overview

Adaptive Biotechnologies is currently recruiting a Research Scientist to join our TCR Discovery team. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain procedures for operation and maintenance of cell sorters
  • Execute and track system start-up, daily system QC and periodic system QC
  • Maintain reagent and consumable stock levels for cell sorting operations
  • Train lab associates to execute routine cell sorting with minimal supervision
  • Oversee and troubleshoot lab cell sorting operations
  • Schedule and oversee system service events equipment field service personnel and coordinate equipment downtime with end users
  • Execution of immune cell biology-based assay and optimization of processes within TCR discovery
  • Coordinate and execute experiments with Scientists and RAs across functional groups, compile data and present results

Required Experience

  • B.S. in science or technology + 8 years of relevant experience
  • M.S./M.A. degree + 6 years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years hands-on experience executing multiparametric cell sorting preferably with BD sorters (support and training can be provided)
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot sorting experiment and equipment issues and escalate to/interface with manufacturer’s field service personnel as needed
  • Prior success in training new users to independently execute routine cell sorting under minimal supervision
  • Prior role in the biotechnology, biopharmaceutical industry or core flow cytometry lab preferred
  • Familiarity with universal precautions and handling of human-derived materials in BSL-2 lab required
  • Superior organizational and communication skills, strong technical writing capabilities and exceptional attention to detail
  • Familiarity with principles of cellular and molecular immunology
