GWU Flow Cytometry Core Facility Manager Opening

 

The George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences is seeking a Senior Research Associate to serve as Manager of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility. The GW Flow Cytometry Core Facility is a service core providing researchers access to well characterized cytometry equipment for sophisticated cell sorting and cell analysis experiments, as well as services in data analysis, instrument training and cytometry education.

 

The successful candidate will oversee all technical and administrative aspects of the facility.

 

Responsibilities include:

- Operation and maintenance of high-speed cell sorters and analytical instruments, including the BD Influx, Sony SH800, BD Celesta, and Cytek Aurora

-Train researchers in flow cytometry theory and instrument use

-Provide technical and scientific support in flow cytometry software and data analysis

-Develop and implement training and education programs

-Keep up to date with new methodologies and equipment; evaluate current and future technology needs of the facility

-Budget, billing and review/approval of service charges

-Order lab supplies/maintain inventory  

 

Qualifications

-Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

-Excellent interpersonal skills are a must for this position since it will require interactions with a large diversity of scientists

-Experience with the BD Influx is highly preferred
