BD Life Sciences – Sr. Scientist, Clinical Evidence Generation, Scientific Affairs

Location: San Jose, CA


A Senior Scientist in the Scientific Affairs team is responsible for developing a wide variety of clinical evidence to support and drive the successful commercialization of the clinical product portfolio. Key to achieving this is the development of novel applications and scientific content for clinical flow cytometry. Included in this is the design of experiments to effectively position the reagents and instruments in clinical product portfolio to generate customer facing collateral such as brochures, technical notes, presentations, and web content.  With a primary focus on bench science, a senior scientist works closely with different business functions to ensure alignment with the overall commercialization strategy. 

   

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, perform, analyze, and troubleshoot multi-color flow cytometry experiments to demonstrate clinical utility
  • Write protocols, study reports, and scientific posters/papers for publication by evaluating scientific literature, analyzing scientific data, and staying abreast of current clinical practice
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external clinical KOLs/collaborators for data/evidence generation to support value messages of clinical products
  • Oral presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Attend relevant clinical conferences and prepare/present the summary of focus areas
  • Support R&D and marketing for product development and launch requirements
  • Follow the current best practices in clinical flow and panel design, as well as contributing to the development of future best practices.
  • Identify significant clinical/scientific trends and communicates them to in-house resources as appropriate
  • Always maintain a professional image through behavior, oral and written communications
  • Keep abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements
  • Promote a safe work environment. Participates in Environmental, Health and Safety programs. Addresses corrective actions whenever a hazard is identified.
  • Comply with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
     

Minimum Qualifications for Education and Experience:

  • MD/PhD in Immunology (or a related life science discipline) with minimum of 5 years' relevant experience. Master’s degree in life sciences with relevant bench experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience designing, performing, and analyzing flow cytometry experiments, preferably on BD flow cytometers.
  • Preferred basic understanding of regulatory requirements for submitting evidence to get approval of clinical products across the globe
  • Experience in panel design greater than 10 colors highly preferred.
  • Desired software skills: BD FACSuite and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective inter-personal skills must be able to work in a cross-functional team-oriented environment to achieve organizational goals.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep neat, accurate, and complete records.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
