Hi:

I have used a dilute lidocaine solution to remove macrophages from
petri dishes in a larger protocol in which macs were removed from spleen
cell preparations involving plastic adherence. Haven't done it since late
70's and would have to look up references if this is the kind of method
you are looking for. We were able to reuse the macs after this treatment
so I assume that implies gentleness.
