Hi

I wish to be able to identify dead cells in samples of fixed cells. The
cells are HIV infected so they have to be fixed before running on the
machine. I seem to remember ethidium azide can do this, has any one any
experience of this dye? Who sells it? How do you use it?

Hi Simon,

Recently,I have stained HIV infected PBMC's with "CellTracker Green",
CMFDA(chloromethylfluorescein diacetate). This dye is a product available from
"Molecular Probes". Viable cells take-up the stain immediately after addition.
This dye is inexpensive and you only need to add 10 - 20ul/4x105 cells at a
stock conc. of 0.5uM dissolved in DMSO. The fluorescence is quite intense
(about 4 logs).

Hope this is of some help.
