Hello Neal,
As Neal Benson says, that question about depreciation being included in
overheads is a real can of worms. It's true that we cannot recharge users for
instrument depreciation costs because they are already charged to grants in the
form of overheads. And it is also true that we, at least, don't see this money
back from the University. *AND* I believe it is also true that the granting
agencies are then being asked to buy new instruments to replace old ones ---
even though they have already paid out in overheads to cover the depreciation
costs....... Am I missing something here???
