Steve: All of these packages mentioned work pretty much as you want.
My lab has used Reference Manager since 1984 - in both dos and
windows versions. It is very robust (which is the most important
factor in my opinion) and it allows you to do all that you require.
While not the least expensive, it is, in my opinion, one of the best
on the market.
