1) Haematology/Immunophenotyping.
In depth knowledge of automated haematology systems (STKS) desirable, good
blood morphology skills a must to handle the high percentage of abnormal
patients which pass through this referral hospital.
Duties will also include full immunophenotyping of leukaemias/lymphomas,
HIV's and congenital immunodeficiencies using this department's XL-MCL
and/or Profile II.
Previous flow experience mandatory, type of instrumentation not a factor.
Instruction (by me!) will be given in current Flow cytometers.
2) Blood Transfusion
A busy blood bank which collects it's own donations and processes for PRP,
Cryo, FFP etc.
2 Haemonetics pheresis machines are in frequent use both for component
collection and therepeutic use.
In addition to general grouping and X matching our laboratory also deals
with approx. 150 beta thalassaemia transfusions per month.
The Diamed ID system is in current use.
Previous long term experience in blood bank a must.
