"Loans" of instrument time for investigators with financial need.

The HSS Flow Core will provide instrument time "on loan" to new investigators who require flow data in support of a grant, or to established investigators who have lost their grant funding and are actively attempting to reacquire it. This service is limited to investigators who are presently without resources to pay for instrument time, and should be used only for research that will directly contribute to the submission of a grant. Under this system, billing for instrument time will be delayed until the investigator has acquired sufficient grant funding and can afford to reimburse the Core. This program is available to both HSS and outside investigators. To apply, submit a brief (2-3 page) proposal to the Flow Core outlining the following:

(1) Describe the financial situation that makes it impossible for you to pay for flow cytometry services at this time.

(2) Give a complete description of the research to be performed, including the amount of instrument time required.

(3) Describe the grant program and application that this research will contribute to.

Please submit all applications to this facility. They will be reviewed by investigators on the Multipurpose Arthritis Core (MAC) grant committee. "Loans" of flow cytometry services will usually be made in blocks of 10 to 20 hours run time, with possible extensions subject to committee approval. Once you have received sufficient funding to reimburse the facility, it will be your responsibility to contact us and make arrangements for payment. The survival of this program will depend on the honesty and integrity of the participating users in meeting this commitment!
