2.   POSITION SUMMARY:  Provide descriptive statements which outline the purpose of the position.

The Flow Cytometry Shared Resource (FCSR) personnel provide training in data interpretation, experiment design and routine instrument operation, offering investigators the cost-saving option of doing some of the work themselves. Resource personnel also support investigators by providing operator-assisted fluorescence-activated cell sorting, analytical flow cytometry and data analysis.

This position is for a Flow Cytometry Operator (Research Associate) at 1.0 FTE. The preferred candidate will have extensive multi-color flow cytometry experience with both analytical instruments and cell sorters, including: cell preparation; equipment operation, maintenance, light instrument repair, and QA/QC; and extensive experience with data analysis. Experience with FlowJo software, as well as other analytical software packages is also desired.  Laboratory experience in cellular and molecular biology is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is capable of working independently and willing to make maximum use of excellent facilities and a productive environment. Position requires highly specialized skills working with FACS, strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, the ability to work directly with principal investigators to help design experiments and troubleshoot multiple projects of varying complexity.  Position requires the ability to work well with others in a customer-service environment.  Previous experience in a flow cytometry core is ideal.
