Under supervision of the Facility Director and independent of the Director, perform research by preparing cells for flow cytometry in the study of fixed and live cells from tissues and animals, set up, acquire data and sort on state-of-the-art flow cytometers and analyze the data obtained using various advanced analysis software. Design and execute various projects, using appropriate fluorophores and antibodies for flow cytometry, mass cytometry and luminex-platform based assays. Define research projects, and train other lab personnel as well as other investigators in various techniques and research equipment. Billing, documentation and dissemination of research activities and results for publication, reports, outreach and user communities.

 

Essential Responsibilities

·      Test, customize and implement new techniques and write and maintain comprehensive protocols for acquiring live and fixed cells to be analyzed on a flow cytometer.

·      Prepare biological samples and optimize flow cytometry techniques for specific flow cytometry protocols.

·      Design and execute various projects, using appropriate fluorophores and antibodies for flow cytometry, ELISA and luminex-platform based assays.

·      Prepare biological samples for flow cytometry, mass cytometry, ELISA and luminex-based platforms.

·      Develop presentations for conferences and publications based on research findings/results.

·      Operate and maintenance of highly-specialized analytical instrumentation.

·      Analyze data and document results for publication and reports using sophisticated software.

·      Oversee and maintain research project schedules and billing using software applications.

·      Perform fluorescence-activated cell sorting and cell purification techniques.

·      Perform antibody conjugation to fluorochromes for flow cytometry and metal tags for mass cytometry.

·      Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry or related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years related research experience.
  • Possesses and applies comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods.
  • Proficient in specific lab research techniques.

 

   Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, cell biology or related discipline preferred.
  • Preferred lab experience with the following:
  • Mass Cytometry
  • Antibody conjugation techniques
  • Data Analysis using FlowJo, Kaluza, SPADE and viSNE software
