In regards to the discussion of FACScan side scatter problems, we have not
seen the problem which has been described by "y'all" on our FACScan which
was been in operation for 3+ years. We do not have any special electrical
supply connections and it seems unlikely that this is the problem in so many
different sites. However, it would always be a good idea to provide some
sort of electrical surge/loss protection for the computer. We have installed
an UPS(uninterupptable power supply) from APC. We do not use the B-D
computer for data acquisition but instead use the Cytomation system. The
Cytomation system takes off the signals prior to the FACScan ADCs so it is
using very little of the FACScan circuitry. I doubt that the problem is air
bubbles. Usually when we think we have air bubbles the signals in all
channels degrades. It sound like B-D service needs to get involved to solve
this problem.
